Holy Spirit Dependency

Holy Spirit Dependency

The task Jesus left us with is too much for us to hope to accomplish on our strength. What Jesus has called us to requires we recognize our desperate dependence upon the Holy Spirit.

Many churches are failing because they’ve traded fresh encounters with God for programs and procedures. We cannot hope to impact our communities and transform lives with programs and procedures. God may use a program or procedure, but without the empowerment of the Holy Spirit it will be utterly useless.

Many of us who are Christians cannot remember the last time we have a true encounter with God. We thank God for providing good outcomes in situations. We praise God when we get what we want. We give glory to God when something goes the way we want it to. Think about it; the last time you were in a group of Christians and were asked for “God encounters” or “praise reports”, didn’t they sound a lot like this?

Very few of us know what it’s like to encounter God, to TRULY encounter God, on a regular basis. Very few of us actually desire this kind of life.

Most of us just want to “put our time in” and go through life without creating too many waves and without too much being asked of us. We’re offered so much more, however.

When I think of all this, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth. I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.

Ephesians 3:14-19 (NLT)

May you have the power to understand how wide, how long, how high, and how deep His love is.

May you experience the love of Christ.

May you be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.

May you become desperately dependent upon the Holy Spirit.

May you be a world-changer.
