Do you invest? Most of us will think of money when we first hear that question. Those of us that do invest money know what it is to live expectantly. The whole purpose of investing money is to receive a positive outcome in the future that should be of greater value than what we initially put into the investment. Some of us even pay an expert to help us with this.
How many of us invest well into the kingdom of God? I’m not talking about finances primarily, but how we invest our time, talent, treasure, and temple into eternal matters. Jesus laid it out pretty simple:
19 “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” – Matthew 6:19-21
How do you invest your time into eternity? What things do you spend your time doing that will have eternal impact?
How do you invest your talent into eternity? How do you use the gifts God has given you to advance the kingdom of God?
How do you invest your treasure into eternity? How do you use the finances God has given you to advance the kingdom of God?
How do you invest your temple into eternity? Are you a good steward of the body that God has given you, where the Holy Spirit dwells, to ensure you have the energy and longevity necessary to be used by God?
Where we invest these things gives us a good idea of where our heart is. Hopefully it shows that we value eternity over temporary pleasures.
