Worry is like a rocking chair; it gives you something to do but never gets you anywhere.”
If the enemy has never got you distracted or stopped dead in your tracks through anxiety, consider yourself fortunate. Many people have been sidetracked or completely taken out by the power of anxiety.
I think the best practical way to combat anxiety is with the exact opposite of anxiety. The opposite of anxiety is not a care-free spirit, it’s gratitude.
6 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. 7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:6-7
I love these verses because it truly is the way we combat the enemy in the area of anxiety. If we first remember all that God has done for us and recount the many times He has acted on our behalf, our problems lose their power and so does anxiety. It’s hard to be anxious about something after we remember that God has always taken care of us and has never forsaken us.
