“1 I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, 2 with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, 3 eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.” – Ephesians 4:1-3
If believers could live out the first few verses of Ephesians 4, our churches would be unstoppable. Instead, most churches are filled with people who want to live a comfortable Christian life and attend a church that caters to their wants and desires.
If many of us could just get down the humility and gentleness part, we would be making great strides. To be people of patience that could bear with each other through the misunderstandings and disagreements.
There is a unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace that has more power than we understand. I’ll take a church with terrible coffee, choppy worship sets, worn-out carpets but that has unity, over a church with all the bells and whistles without unity any day.
May we be people who walk worthy of our calling. We’ve all been called to be disciple-makers and world-changers. Unless you’re not a Christian, then you’re off the hook. Everyone else… buckle up. We’re going after what God has for us like never before!
